The Postdoctoral Psychology Resident will provide individual counseling, group therapy, risk assessment, and crisis intervention, AOD (alcohol and other drug) interventions, consultation and outreach for WSU students. Under faculty supervision, the Postdoctoral Resident will function as a professional member of Counseling and Psychological Services

Counseling and Psychological Services seek to promote the intellectual, emotional and social growth and development of WSU students. We offer individual, couple and group counseling, psychological testing, drug & alcohol services, self-help and 24/7 crisis counseling. Our service and programs help students develop lifelong skills for addressing personal, social, academic and career-related concerns.

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Position requires a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work  of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Satisfactory completion of all necessary coursework in an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, including completion of doctoral preliminary exams (or program equivalent).

Satisfactory completion of a full-time doctoral psychology internship that included counseling/psychotherapy as a main component of the training program.

Approval of doctoral dissertation proposal by academic department.

Experience working with "high" risk" difficulties (e.g., suicide, eating disorders, substance abuse, PTSD).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Earned Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical psychology.

Completion of doctoral psychology internship at a university counseling center.

Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral psychology internship program.
