POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Director of Training holds the responsibility for implementing, supporting, and maintaining Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Doctoral Internship Program through the Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology (NICPP). This position requires collaboration with the Center’s practicum coordinator, guidance and support to staff providing supervision to the doctoral interns and ensuring that the training program fits within the overall scope and mission of CAPS, Student Affairs, and the University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

PhD or PsyD from a Counseling or Clinical Psychology accredited training program along with a one year, APA-accredited doctoral internship (or equivalent). Must have a minimum of 2 years of full-time clinical experience providing counseling to college age clients after internship year. Must be eligible as a licensed psychologist in the US and be able to obtain a psychology license in the State of Nebraska within 12 months of hire. Must be able to obtain a psychology license in the State of Nebraska. Must demonstrate skills in the provision of supervision. Must demonstrate general knowledge regarding APA’s requirements for a doctoral internship in professional psychology.  Must demonstrate experience in providing mental health consultation with university partners (e.g., faculty, staff).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Five or more years of full-time post-doctoral clinical experience. Experience working in a University Counseling Center as a doctoral intern. Experience working in a University Counseling Center as a mental health provider. Experience participating in a University Counseling Center Doctoral Internship Program. Administrative experience at a university/college counseling center such as an assistant/associate director or coordinator; training and experience providing psychological services to college students which includes providing services to persons of color, international students, non-traditional students, veterans, students with disabilities and LGBTQA+ students desirable.  Experience working within a comprehensive counseling center at a college or university is helpful. Exposure to stepped care and short-term models of counseling (e.g., bi-weekly therapy, 7-8 sessions) are also helpful.

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
