Utah State University Counseling and Prevention Services (USU CAPS) is hiring two embedded mental health professionals to support students in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM): a Wellness Program Lead and an Embedded Clinician.

Both positions are part of CAPS and will be physically located in the CVM, working closely with students, faculty and staff. These roles combine direct clinical care with outreach and wellness programming to promote a culture of wellbeing within a rigorous professional training program. The Wellness Program Lead is responsible for developing and coordinating the wellness programs within the CVM and works collaboratively with the Embedded Clinician. Both positions report to CAPS Executive Director.

These positions follow an annual schedule that includes one month off during the summer. The Wellness Program Lead is a full-time (40-hour/week), and the Embedded Clinician position offers flexibility to start as part-time during the first two years, with the option to work full-time if desired.

Counseling and Prevention Services
Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) is part of USU's Division of Student Success. CAPS has been accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) since 1996. Our mid-size team is composed of professionals from psychology, social work, and counseling. We have robust training programs, including a doctoral internship accredited by the American Psychological Association and practicum in clinical/counseling psychology. CAPS offers a range of services, including individual and group therapy, single-session therapy, assessment, crisis appointments, case management, suicide prevention programming, alcohol and drug prevention education, outreach, and consultations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Wellness Program Lead will be hired as either a Clinician I, Clinician II, or Psychologist, and the Embedded Clinician will be hired as either a Clinician I or Clinician II, based on the following qualifications: 

·         For hire as a Clinician I:

    • A master's degree in a mental health field that prepares graduates for licensure (e.g., social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy) and a provisional mental health license in Utah (e.g., CSW, ACMHC, AMFT), and eligible for independent licensure in Utah as a mental health provider within 2 years of hire date.
      • If hired as a Clinician I, the individual must have secured a license for independent practice within 2 years of hire. (If hired at the Clinician I level, supervision will be provided by CAPS clinicians.)

·         For hire as a Clinician II:

    • A master's degree in a mental health field that prepares graduates for licensure (e.g., social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy) and a current Utah licensure (or ability to secure licensure by hire date) that allows independent practice (e.g., LCSW, CMHC, LMFT) OR;
      • a doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited program and eligible for licensure in Utah as a Psychologist within 2 years of hire date

·         For hire as a Psychologist:

    • A doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited program and current Utah licensure as a Psychologist (or ability to secure license by hire date).

·         For all levels:  Clinical experience working with young adults (ages 18-25)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Wellness Program Lead:

  • Doctoral degree in psychology.
  • Independent clinical license in the State of Utah and eligibility to provide clinical supervision to unlicensed staff.
  • Experience working in a university or other higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the unique mental health needs of veterinarians and veterinary students.

Embedded Clinician:

  • Independent clinical license in the State of Utah.
  • Experience working in a university or other higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the unique mental health needs of veterinarians and veterinary students.
