The Mental Health Counselor for Student Belonging participates in the full range of generalist mental health counseling service delivery, with a specific focus on ensuring all students experience a sense of belonging within the McDaniel community. Operating from the understanding that a sense of belonging is a critical component of well-being, this Mental Health Counselor collaborates closely with the Office of Student Belonging and other campus partners to provide an integrated approach to supporting the holistic well-being of a diverse community of students. In addition to clinical services, the Mental Health Counselor for Student Belonging will engage in meaningful outreach activities with campus partners and student groups. This position reports to the Assistant Dean, Student Health and Wellness. 

ABOUT MCDANIEL COLLEGE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·         PhD, PsyD, MSW, or M.A. in Mental Health Counseling or related field

·         Licensed to practice in the state of Maryland: LCSW-C, LMSW, LCPC, LGPC, or licensed psychologist

·         Experience managing crisis situations

·         Demonstrate a profound understanding of and experience in supporting the specific mental health and well-being needs of a diverse community of        students. 

·         Successful completion of a background and credential background check

·         Ability to provide on-call coverage and emergency response

·         Ability to use Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point) and electronic health record management systems

 
COMPENSATION

The budgeted hiring rate for this position is based off licensure: LMSW and LGPC licensure range $50,600 - $53,680 / LCSW-C/LCPC/psychologist licensure range $58,520 - $61,600.  The position is classified as an A4. The A4 salary band for all full-time, 12-month positions at the college with this classification have a minimum rate of $50,000 and a maximum rate of $93,780. For benefit purposes only, the workweek is estimated to be 35 hours per week. The actual schedule for exempt positions may vary based on the workload and responsibilities assigned. This is a 10-month position.
