Counselor, CAN Counselor, Center for African Diaspora and the Educational Opportunity Program (CNSLNG PSYCHOLOGIST 3 HX)
Salary or Pay Range: $117,366.07/yr. - $170,944.01/yr.
Under the direction of the Director of Multicultural Services at Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS), this position coordinates and develops partnerships with two student service units and Ethnic or Area Studies Departments/Programs, to provide regular consultation and effective case management of student situations. This work requires analysis of unique and complex issues. This Community Counselor position works with the Center for African Diaspora and the Educational Opportunity Program and provides the following services to these units; Conduct assessments, respond to student needs, and make referrals to campus resources. Conduct outreach to students, faculty and staff about distressed and distressing students and other mental health issues. Provide consultation to students, faculty, and staff. Provide intake evaluation, treatment planning, crisis intervention, case management, and individual and group counseling and psychotherapy, with referrals to others as needed. Provides campus programs on education, multicultural concerns and prevention, may provide supervision and training to Counseling Services trainees in an APA accredited internship and APPIC-member postdoctoral program. This position works closely with the staff of partner units and other Community Advising Network (CAN) Community Counselors. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team. Complies with professional requirements of SHCS and UC Davis policies and procedures as well as all State and Federal professional legal requirements.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- California Licensed Psychologist (PSYCH)
- Current CPR certification or obtain within 90 days
- Psychologists (e.g., Psy.D., Ph.D.) governed by California Board of Psychology are required to possess valid license. Psychologist applicants possessing a valid license in another state must obtain California licensure within 180 days after submitting an application to become licensed in California or from date of commencement of residency in California, whichever comes first. OR Applicants who are not licensed, but who are license eligible as psychologists in California, must have passed the EPPP by time of application. Must possess California Board of Psychology valid license within 30 days of job offer.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse social, cultural or socio-cultural backgrounds.
- Experience treating diverse clients using short-term models of individual and group psychotherapy/counseling.
- Experience developing and implementing outreach programs of a psychological nature, including providing group psychotherapy, to diverse groups.
- Experience assessing and intervening when individuals present in crisis.
- Experience establishing professional work relationships.
- Knowledge of the dynamics of socialization, displacement, transition, oppression, internalized oppression and acculturation, and activism as it relates to the emotional well-being of an individual, while attending to the intersections of identity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with historically underserved or marginalized client populations (e.g. Native American, LGBTQIA, African Diaspora, Chicanx/Latinx, etc.) in a university counseling service with strong student service orientation.
- Knowledge of ethical, legal and university standards and regulations.
- Ability to provide supervision to predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees.
- Ability to conduct program evaluation, analyze results and share findings.
