Postdoctoral Staff Therapist


The Postdoctoral Staff Therapists (2 Positions) at UIC Counseling Center
2026-2027 Academic Year

Job Summary:


The Postdoctoral Staff Therapist positions (2 openings) are designed for postdoctoral clinicians (e.g., met requirements for PsyD/PhD and are pursuing licensure hours) who are interested in providing therapy, supervision, and training in a counseling center with a diverse population of students with an emphasis on multiculturalism and social justice. The position has an emphasis on clinical service delivery, with an opportunity to deepen outreach/consultation and supervision/training skills. While we pride ourselves on a position that provides a breadth of experience common to clinicians in a university setting, we are pleased to offer opportunities to Postdoctoral Staff Therapists to focus on an area of specialty.

Postdoctoral Staff Therapists may elect to choose an area of clinical specialty, described below. This specialization track is optional and will be tailored to the individual's specific training and professional goals.

Compensation and Benefits

Annualized salary is $60,000. Monies (up to $400 per Postdoctoral Staff Therapist) are available for professional development through approved activities such as workshops/conferences and licensure preparation materials. Postdoctoral Staff Therapists are eligible for benefits provided to academic professionals (e.g., health, dental, and vision insurance for the post-doctoral staff therapist and their eligible dependents, including domestic partners, life, accidental death and dismemberment, retirement, long-term care, and flexible spending accounts). In addition to 24 days of earned vacation time, 3 days of professional leave, 13 days of sick leave, and University holidays are provided. Three hours a week of on-site licensure study time is allotted from May to August.

Start and End Dates
Mid-August 2026 through Mid-August 2027 (Preferred start date is August 10, 2026.)

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology prior to the start of the post-doctoral position is required; note that all degree requirements, including your dissertation, must be completed prior to the start date:

APA-accredited doctoral program and APA-accredited doctoral internship required;

Previous experience providing direct (i.e. non-simulated) supervision required;

Professional experience and competence working within a multicultural framework required.

Desired Qualifications
Previous counseling center experience preferred.
