POSITION DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time leadership role, based in Cairo, Egypt. Open to International applicants.
Reports to: Dean of Students
Purpose: the job holder provides strategic leadership and clinical oversight for the Center for Student
Wellbeing (CSW), managing three critical units: Counseling, Student
Accessibility Services (SAS), and Outreach. The Senior Director ensures the
delivery of high-quality mental health care, disability accommodations, and
wellness education to the student body. The role is responsible for maintaining
International Association of Counseling Services (IACS) standards, managing
clinical operations and budgets, and fostering a campus culture of diversity,
equity, and inclusion
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Clinical
Oversight: Provide strategic vision and clinical direction for the entire
center, integrating its three core units: Counseling, Student Accessibility
Services (SAS), and Outreach. Designs campus-wide wellness initiatives to
establish the CSW as a "Center of Excellence" and works towards
maintaining IACS (International Association of Counseling Services)
accreditation standards.
- Clinical Management & Crisis
Intervention: Responsible for the quality of care provided to students. This
involves providing clinical supervision to staff, managing caseloads and
referral processes, and ensuring ethical compliance. Crucially, the role leads
crisis intervention efforts, including being on-call after hours to handle
high-risk emergencies and making critical decisions regarding student safety
and hospitalization.
- Student Accessibility & Outreach
Direction: Lead
the Student Accessibility Services unit by coordinating with faculty to ensure
appropriate academic accommodations for students with disabilities, while also
directing campus outreach efforts through webinars, workshops, and anti-stigma
campaigns that promote mental health awareness and resilience; maintain strong relations
and collaborative partnerships with psychiatric hospitals, outsourced
psychiatrists, mental health providers, NGOs, and community organizations to
enhance support for students in need.
- Operational & Staff Management: Manages
the center’s significant administrative and financial operations.
- Additional Related Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Terminal Degree in a mental health profession is required.
- Current Licensure as a mental health practitioner is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a licensed mental health
provider.
- Includes at least 5 years of experience in a higher education
setting
- Experience in a senior leadership role
(Assistant/Associate Director level or above).
Skills:
- Clinical:
Advanced clinical acumen and
diagnostic skills; expertise in crisis intervention and risk assessment.
- Leadership:
Proven record of commitment to
diversity, equity, and inclusion; ability to lead diverse teams
- Operational:
Experience with budgeting,
clinical systems, and accreditation processes.
- Interpersonal: High emotional
intelligence, empathy, firmness, and decisiveness.
