Mental Health Clinician

The Mental Health Clinician provides counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, outreach, and mental health education to Texas A&M students. This position may also provide supervision of clinical staff and graduate trainees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couples, and group counseling services.
  • Conduct crisis intervention, risk assessment, and case management.
  • Develop treatment plans and facilitate referrals.
  • Deliver outreach programs, workshops, and presentations.
  • Consult with students, faculty, staff, and families regarding mental health concerns.
  • Participate in departmental committees, initiatives, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain timely and ethical clinical documentation

Senior Mental Health Clinician (Embedded)

The Senior Mental Health Clinician (Embedded) provides advanced counseling services while serving as a mental health partner within an academic college or department. This role combines clinical care, consultation, outreach, program development, and supervision responsibilities. The embedded clinician works closely with college leadership while remaining connected to the University Health Services clinical team. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couples, and group counseling services.
  • Independently manage complex and high-risk clinical cases.
  • Conduct crisis intervention, assessment, and hospitalization coordination when needed.
  • Provide consultation to students, faculty, staff, families, and trainees.
  • Develop and deliver outreach programs and educational presentations.
  • Mentor and supervise clinicians, trainees, and early-career professionals.
  • Support program development and coordination of counseling services.
  • Maintain strong collaborative relationships with academic partners and University Health Services.

Other Requirements:

  • Some travel is required. Travel to non-Bryan/College Station locations approximately once per month per semester. Travel sites could include Round Rock, Houston, or Kingsville, Texas.
  • Embedded roles may require a flexible schedule for regularly scheduled evening appointments and weekend work for outreach and/or crisis response, dependent on the needs of the partner and student population.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Mental Health Clinician Required Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or another degree accepted by the applicable Texas licensing board.
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
    • Texas licensure within one year of employment.
    • Required post-licensure supervised clinical experience based on license type.


    Senior Mental Health Clinician (Embedded) Required Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or another degree accepted by the applicable Texas licensing board.
    • LPC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure.
    • Eligible to supervise according to Texas licensing board requirements.
    • Five years of independent licensure experience in a college counseling center or related setting.
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Mental Health Clinician Preferred Qualifications

    • College or university counseling center experience.
    • Crisis intervention and risk assessment expertise.
    • Outreach and mental health education experience.
    • Clinical supervision experience.
    • Multilingual counseling abilities.
    • Training in evidence-based practices.


    Senior Mental Health Clinician (Embedded) Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working independently in embedded or off-site counseling settings.
    • Seven or more years in higher education mental health services.
    • Crisis intervention and risk assessment expertise.
    • Outreach and training experience.
    • Clinical supervision experience.
    • Multilingual counseling abilities.
    • Training in evidence-based practices.
     
    COMPENSATION

    Mental Health Clinician

    Salary: Starting at $70,800/annually.


    Senior Mental Health Clinician (Embedded)

    Salary: Starting at $83,000/annually.
