The Scripps Research Institute has an exciting opportunity for a part-time temporary (5-month) Licensed Staff Counselor to provide counseling, assessment, and consultation to students, scientific and support staff, Scripps Research in La Jolla, California, home to some of the world’s most renowned scientists. This position will also have the opportunity to showcase their presentation delivery skills by providing in-house presentations. The duration of the position will be from October 1, 2026-February 26, 2027, and the required on-site hours are 25 hours/week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology with licensure to practice independently in the state of California in the associated field.
Master’s degree in clinical social work with licensure and a minimum of four years’ experience may be accepted in lieu of the required Ph.D. or Psy.D.
Experience in counseling, assessment and diagnosis, outreach and consultation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated crisis management skills.
Leadership, problem-solving, and public speaking skills.
Current knowledge of and adherence to ethical, legal and professional guidelines.
Ability to think creatively and work well as part of a team.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Titanium EHR
Experience in university counseling is highly preferred.

COMPENSATION

The expected hiring range for this position is $40.50 to $55.00/hourly, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
