The individual filling this position has responsibility for providing mental health services to students currently enrolled at the University of Indianapolis. Priority consideration will be given to individuals who demonstrate sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues and have proficiency in addressing aspects of students’ intersecting identities, and equity and inclusion disparities within the context of psychotherapy. Duties include individual and group counseling, psycho-education, crisis intervention, outreach, and consultative services to students. Consultation and psychoeducation for parents, faculty/staff and university community members is also expected. 

Schedule

Fall semester 2026 — up to 19 hours/week (during M-F 8a-4:30p work hours — preferably available on Mondays and Wednesdays); there is the potential for the position to continue beyond Fall semester, depending on staffing and funding availability.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience  

• Prior experience in working with emerging adults and college population 

Education

• At least a Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field in a related mental health field from an accredited college or university required. 

Licenses/Certifications/Credentials

• Licensure in the state of Indiana (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, HSPP, etc.)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Part-time positions may include assistance with supervision and training activities for our graduate clinical practicum trainees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform assessments and provide individual and group counseling to students
• Conduct mandatory alcohol and drug assessments with students who have violated the university’s alcohol and drug policy
• Provide crisis intervention to students who are suicidal, homicidal, or psychotic, under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, and those who have experienced sexual assault
• Provide in-service training to the residence life staff on issues related to mental health
• Assist with outreach development and implementation 
• Collaborate with Health & Wellness Center staff when appropriate in cases requiring services of both the counseling center and health services
• Assist with supervision of graduate students in the student counseling center practicum training program 
• Maintain awareness of current research and best practices in university counseling centers and follow protocols established by the American Psychological Association
• Consult and collaborate with other disciplines in the delivery of total client/patient care
• Maintain legal, ethical, and moral standards of mental health care using sound clinical judgment
• Provide culturally responsive and identity-informed psychotherapy to students with diverse clinical concerns using a holistic and developmentally oriented, short-term/time-limited approach to treatment.
