POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB
SUMMARY:
Manages and
coordinates clinical services and training programs at CAPS, overseeing data
management, analysis, and reporting related to clinical operations and trainee
progress. Directs the training and assessment of clinical supervisors
participating in the graduate training program. Delivers a full range of
clinical services, including initial consultations, diagnostic evaluations,
treatment planning, psychological testing, short-term individual therapy,
crisis intervention, and facilitation of both psychoeducational and
process-oriented group counseling. Provides clinical supervision, campus-wide
educational outreach, and consultation services.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides direction and support in the coordination of clinical services of CAPS
- Maintains APA accreditation and professional standards for the Doctoral Internship Program, including drafting all required reports
- Organizes the review of applications, interviews intern candidates, and submits the final ranking to the National Matching Services annually
- Oversees and maintains all Counseling Center records related to the training of Doctoral interns
- Manages all employment-related matters concerning Doctoral interns
- Coordinates the graduate student training program, including responsibility for communicating with graduate training programs, recruiting applicants, and managing the interview, acceptance, and onboarding process
- Supervises a team of professional staff and provides clinical supervision to graduate student trainees
- Directs the administration, analysis, and reporting of assessments related to clinical services and the training program
- Provides a wide range of psychological services to KSU students, including crisis intervention, initial consultation, diagnostic and treatment formulation, psychological testing, short-term individual counseling and psychotherapy, psychoeducational and process-focused group counseling, clinical supervision, and education
- Provides crisis intervention and after-hours emergency on-call coverage
- Provides outreach and consultation to the campus community
- Assists with administrative and clinical responsibilities in the Director’s absence

ABILITIES:
- Ability to engage in data-informed decision-making and develop, implement, and evaluate models of clinical training
- Successful collaboration with treatment team and external constituents
- Ability to successfully interact with individuals/groups from an array of backgrounds, experiences, and communication styles
- Ability to recognize and protect confidential information and exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy in handling sensitive information and situations
- Ability to work as a contributing member in a team-oriented environment, successfully interacting with internal and external colleagues and partners
- Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
- Advanced knowledge of APA accreditation
- Advanced knowledge of theory and research on clinical supervision and training
- Knowledge of current trends in collegiate mental health services
- Knowledge and experience with mental health issues in higher education
- Familiarity with short-term models of treatment
- Experience providing administrative and clinical supervision
- Experience with electronic health records
- Knowledge and experience with computer-based productivity systems (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of professional, national, and state ethical guidelines
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)

- Advanced skills in the delivery of group and individual clinical supervision
- Individual, group, and couples counseling and psychotherapeutic skills with college student population presenting with concerns across the continuum of mental health
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
- Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
