This senior level position assists the Director with and is primarily responsible for the development, recruitment, management, and oversight of the CAPS practicum training program and ensures smooth operation of all training program functions. This position also provides comprehensive psychological services to a diverse student population. Duties regularly include the following: triage intake assessments; individual, couples, and group therapy; crisis intervention; clinical supervision of trainees and staff as assigned; and outreach to the campus community. On a less regular basis, the position includes consultation with faculty, staff and students. CAPS staff also routinely serve on campus wide committees as approved by the Director. TWU’s CAPS leadership team consists of a director and 3 associate directors (2 Denton & 1 Dallas/Houston). Our Denton staff includes 2 psychologists and 4 master’s level clinicians, as well as 3-5 practicum students, 2 contract therapists, and 3 administrative staff. Our Dallas/Houston clinical staff includes 1 psychologist and 2 master's level clinicians. TWU CAPS services support the development of the whole person by fostering student resiliency, emotional well-being, interpersonal effectiveness, and academic success. It is the only campus agency designated to provide psychological services solely to students. EDUCATION – Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology. Licensure as a Psychologist is required.
EXPERIENCE – At least 3 years of post-doctoral work experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a university counseling center. Experience providing clinical supervision is required.
EDUCATION – Pre-doctoral internship at an APA accredited university counseling center site is preferred. Licensure in the state of Texas is preferred. If licensed in a state other than Texas, the individual will be required to obtain licensure in Texas within 12 months of employment.
EXPERIENCE – 5 years of post-doctoral work experience in a university counseling center. Proven ability to coordinate a training program and/or clinical service is preferred.
