POSITION DESCRIPTION

Counseling Services Generalist (BEH HEALTH COUNSELOR 4 HX)

Salary or Pay Range: $80,300/yr. - $147,500/yr.


Under the direction of a Counseling Services (CS) Supervisor at Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS), this position serves as a Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and has recognized expertise in specific areas; performs professional patient/client care (individual, group, crisis intervention, and case management) assigned by quarterly clinic schedule. This work requires analysis of unique and complex issues. Contributes expertise to campus-wide programs on education, multicultural concerns. and prevention, formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources. Functions with a high degree of autonomy, and provides supervision and training to Counseling Services trainees in an APA accredited internship and APPIC-member postdoctoral program. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team. Complies with professional requirements of SHCS and UC Davis policies and procedures as well as all State and Federal professional legal requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Current CPR certification or obtain within 90 days.

• Masters clinical/counseling degree and licensure (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) required. Masters therapist applicants are governed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and are required to possess a valid California license. Masters therapist applicants possessing a valid license in another state must obtain California licensure within 30 days of job offer.

• Experience in at least 1 of the following: 1) Experience providing culturally informed services to Asian American and Pacific Islander clients, 2) Experience providing culturally informed services to Native American clients, 3) Experience treating neurodivergent clients, 4) Experience working with clients who have concerns with Alcohol and Other Drugs.

• Experience working with individuals from diverse social, cultural or socio-cultural backgrounds.

• Experience treating diverse clients using short-term models of individual and group psychotherapy/counseling.

• Experience assessing and intervening when individuals present in crisis.

• Experience establishing professional work relationships

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and treatment interventions.

• Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with historically underserved or marginalized client populations (e.g. Native American, LGBTQIA, African Diaspora, Chicanx/Latinx, etc.) 

• Experience working in a university counseling service with strong student service orientation. 

• Knowledge of ethical, legal and university standards and regulations.
