POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Central Michigan University Counseling Center has
a full-time mental health counseling position available. This position is aimed
at furthering the emotional health and well-being of CMU students through
counseling services, outreach, collaboration with campus partners, and
coordination of the center’s social media account.
The
Counseling Center provides free and confidential, short term counseling
services to currently enrolled CMU students dealing with personal issues that
may negatively impact their academic success, interpersonal relationships,
health, or well-being. Services are provided in person and via tele-mental
health and offered in a variety of formats. The Counseling Center recognizes
that each student is a unique individual with different stories, experiences,
and needs. We strive to create an open, safe, and inclusive environment where
students can freely explore and express all identities, beliefs, and values
they hold.
This
collaborative and supportive team environment offers an excellent work/life
balance with a flexible work schedule and opportunities for creativity in
student engagement. In addition to counseling services, this position supports
outreach across campus, collaboration with campus partners, professional
development, and supervision opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide culturally responsive and identity-informed individual, couples, and group counseling services
- Provide campus outreach and prevention services
- Responsible for 24 client contact hours per week, 12 paperwork, 1 administrative hour, and attendance at scheduled staff meetings
- Provide consultation to colleagues, faculty, staff, parents, and students
- Provide crisis intervention services during office hours
- Participate in professional development within and outside of the center
- Adheres to Counseling Center scope of practice and procedures
- Maintain all professional, ethical, and legal standards in the State of Michigan
- Maintains licensure to provide confidential mental health services in the State of Michigan and meets any related professional development requirements for that license
- Create and/or coordinate social media content for the Counseling Center that supports the Counseling Center mission, vision, and values
- Create content for social media and other Counseling Center advertisements and promotions using CMU brand guidelines
- Suupport and approve social medica content for the COMPASS Peer Education Program students
