Overview: The Student Health and Wellness Center (SHW) seeks a skilled behavioral health provider who can provide excellent clinical care to OHSU students and postdoctoral fellows across the spectrum of developmental and mental health issues. As with all SHW providers, this position will:

• Provide generalist mental health services to OHSU students and postdoctoral scholars.
• Employ interventions that are flexible, individualized, and evidence based.

The mission of SHW is to support Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) students, postdoctoral scholars, pathway scholars, and their adult dependents in personal health and well-being during their academic careers at OHSU. We work to provide exceptional and confidential primary and behavioral health care, outreach programming, and suicide prevention. Clinicians have the opportunity to work with highly engaged graduate students and postdoctoral scholars navigating developmental, academic, and mental health concerns. We are located on the primary OHSU campus on Marquam Hill in Portland, Oregon.

Duties of Position: In this position, your primary role at SHW will be to:

• Provide culturally affirming and responsive therapy to our diverse student population, including students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, LGBTQQAI+ students, and students of all abilities. This includes diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning, crisis intervention, and counseling using individual, couples, and group modalities. SHW emphasizes short-term therapy but does not have formal session limits.
• Independently and efficiently manage a robust and complex caseload of clients including some with high acuity, along with timely completion of clinical documentation. There is no insurance billing in this role.
• Design and implement at least one therapy or support group for students, or other creative ways to reach students outside of the 1:1 counseling model.
• Serve as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of mental health professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists, LPCs, LCSWs, LMFTs), primary care providers, wellness professionals, and support staff.
• Foster strong relationships with student leaders, academic leaders, and student support services across OHSU to facilitate outreach presentations, trainings, and education regarding mental health and well-being.
• Design and deliver outreach programming and psychoeducational presentations on mental health topics relevant to students.
• Participate in behavioral health team meetings to provide consultation, discuss complex cases, improve access to services, prevent provider burnout, coordinate referrals, and collaborate with primary care colleagues to ensure continuity of care. 

Position Details:

• FTE: 0.8 to 1.0 FTE (32-40 hours/week)
• Schedule: Determined in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Director. SHW is open Monday through Friday. Provider will be asked to work one evening per week (until 7:00 p.m.) to accommodate students' schedules. There is no weekend work and no on-call responsibility in this role.
• Location: Marquam Hill Campus in Portland, Oregon. Some hybrid work options are currently available. This role will require in-person work on Fridays.
• Job Type: Faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor, depending on qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) or Master's degree in a behavioral health discipline with eligibility for Oregon licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
• Valid Oregon license or ability to obtain Oregon licensure quickly.
• Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
• Excellent clinical skills including:
• Initial assessment
• Treatment planning
• Individual therapy
• Crisis intervention
• Experience providing behavioral health services to individuals from one or more diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, disability, or other historically underserved communities.
• Experience or interest in providing relationship/couples therapy.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Extensive demonstrated experience and commitment to cultural humility and cultural awareness, including communicating respectfully across differing beliefs, identities, orientations, and cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to design and deliver psychoeducational and outreach presentations.
• Training in or exposure to one or more empirically supported treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and/or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). A foundation in contemporary psychodynamic theory is welcomed. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working in a Student Health or Student Counseling setting.
• Experience collaborating and coordinating care with interprofessional teams.
• Demonstrated lived experience in Black/African American, Latino/Latinae, American Samoan, Asian, Asian Pacific Islander, or Native American communities.
• Experience providing educational presentations to audiences of varying sizes.
• Training and experience in group therapy. 

COMPENSATION

$100,000-$142,000 annually based on 1.0 FTE, depending on degree and years of post-licensure experience
